Moms comment: Bald Eagle on a treetop, taken from far away with telephoto lens on 400mm, – he was high up also.
You can see his tongue in this one : )
At one point there was a lot of screeching going on from this Eagle. The great blue herons were going crazy, also making a Lot of noise, in fright.
Moms words: beautiful Cedar Waxwing checking out our front patio. captured from open front window with telephoto lens. Believe this is the female of the pair that visited yesterday
Moms comment: great blue heron gathering twigs for its nest. About 5 minutes from where we live, there’s a huge colony/rookery of nesting great blue herons, and there are some bald eagle pairs nesting there also.
Moms words: baby yellow finch male (goldfinch) puffball, after taking a dip in the bathing area on our front patio. He’s preparing to go in for another bathing session.
Another hummingbird beauty of Moms.
Moms coments: Hummingbird, rufous female, sitting right on the top of the droplets from the fountain. The end of her beak can be seen, beyond her wing, in the original, but not sure if it will show up on this compressed version.
captured while on the patio
I love this one! I’m sure I’ve seen this photo circulating around on the web. Don’t know how as all Moms pictures were just on her photography page.
moms comment: the parent owl atop the nest tree. The parent flew in with some food for the babies just as we were leaving, so captured a few shots as she landed atop the nest tree. In the original, you can see its eyes glowing red. Not sure if it will show up in compressed version here.
There was one baby in the nest, but it had been out, flying back just as dusk was falling.
Love this of the Eagle soaring over Mom
Moms comment: Bald Eagle flying free in our area, at the Great Blue heron nesting area. Bald eagles are also nesting there, we saw 2 eagles sitting on nests at the same place last evening.
This gives you an idea of the magnificent wingspan.
